FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE MINISTRY OF THE LAITY

Registration for EFM Mentor Training in the Diocese of Texas for August 8 - 10 is now open. All registration is online at: EFM Mentor Training

There will be 2 Basic/Inservice groups for a total of 16 places.

The Formation topic is:

Group Skills and Human Interaction
Group makeup: 2 trainers and 10 – 14 participants (registration fee may be adjusted to cover the cost of the second trainer)
Purpose: To refine our group skills through building community. To understand group dynamics as they relate to EFM groups. To become aware of group leadership skills and styles of human interaction. To gain confidence in using theories and learnings in our own situations.

As a result of this formation event, you may expect to:
• understand theories of group life and development
• understand your own and others’ styles of human interaction
• apply group theory to foster community within your EFM seminar
• be comfortable with your own leadership style and flexible enough to use other styles when expedient
• describe your role as a mentor in relationship to theories of group life and development

Training events are held twice a year in the Diocese of Texas. We customarily offer 2 sections of Basic Mentor Training and 1 section of Formation Training.

The 2008 schedule for training events in the Diocese of Texas is:

February 29 - March 2, 2008, Benedictine Learning Center, Marble Falls, Texas

August 8 - 10, Camp Allen, Navasota, Texas

Due to recent changes in Mentor Formation training requirements, the Formation events may be changed to Basic/Inservice events if demand so dictates.

Training events are also held at Sewanee every month.  You may attend training events in another diocese.  For more information about mentor training events outside the Diocese of Texas click Other Training Events and follow the links to either the International Training Schedule or the Sewanee Training Schedule.
